Fibromyalgia or Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMA or FMS) is a growing problem in our culture. The name is descriptive of the main symptoms involved, namely painful muscles and fibres. This is an unhelpful diagnostic term as people with Fibromyalgia will contest. It merely refers to the painful symptoms and does not give any clue as to the cause.

Mickel Therapy believes that Fibromyalgia is part of the spectrum of symptoms caused by a dysfunctional Hypothalamus gland. (note this is a hypothesis and is not yet fully validated by research though there is growing acceptance of the concepts behind the treatment. We have however had over 2,000 clients make a full recovery) The symptoms involved in Fibromyalgia are often the same as in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and ME .

The main difference is that in Fibromyalgia the predominant effect is noticeable in the muscles and connecting tissues. Fortunately Mickel Therapy works equally well in dealing with this subset of the condition we call ‘Hypothalamitis’. Mickel Health Initiatives are arranging an independent study of their work to validate this claim.

Sufferers of Fibromyalgia will be all too aware of the discomfort associated with this condition. The areas of concentrated pain or ‘trigger points’ are well documented in the literature on Fibromyalgia. They are representative of areas used by acupuncturists for centuries. They are areas of concentrated muscle fibres or energy blocks in the meridians if we look through the eyes of acupuncture.

Much time is being spent on researching the changes that occur within muscles in Fibromyalgia however these are merely effects and give no clue as to the cause of Fibromyalgia. Dr Mickel’s book on the subject explains the symptoms of Fibromyalgia in more detail.

Fortunately Mickel Therapy provides a clear process to allow clients to understand the cause of their symptoms and proactively take part in stopping the body sending them.
