What Is Mickel Therapy?

Mickel Therapy is a revolutionary new treatment for the conditions of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, ME, Fibromyalgia, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Insomnia, Anxiety, Depression & more. It was created by a medical doctor in the UK, Dr David Mickel who has been using the techniques successfully since 2001. According to enthusiastic client testimonials, well over 700 clients with CFS, ME & Fibromyalgia have reported being returned to asymptomatic health. Due to its success, Mickel Therapy is now offered in over 74 centres around the world including the USA, New Zealand, South Africa and around Europe. Interest from the medical establishment is growing, with physicians starting to train to use the tools with patients. Funding is currently being sought for research to further reinforce this success with the aim of offering treatment on health insurance policies or on the NHS.

Mickel Therapy is a body-mind treatment which:
a) Helps clients to understand why their body is creating the physical symptoms they are experiencing.
b) Gives them tools to use so that their body can stop sending the symptoms.

Mickel Therapy requires no medication, dietary change or use of supplements. While it is a purely spoken therapy, it is not a form of psychotherapy. The process is unique in that it interprets the nature of the symptoms from a body-mind perspective and puts the ability to heal back into the hands of the client. This is true healing for the 21st century.

Saul Levitt has worked with clients in Australia & the UK as well as assisted Dr Mickel in new practitioner training in London. He is now pleased to be able to offer Mickel Therapy from 2 locations in North West London.

The Basic Ideas around CFS, ME& Fibromyalgia

The basic idea behind Mickel Therapy in relation to the conditions of CFS, ME and Fibromyalgia is that symptoms are created by a dysfunctional Hypothalamus gland (see above video), which then produces its physical effects through the Nervous, Endocrine and Immune systems. This is described in Dr Mickel's book as the state of  'Hypothalamitis' which translates simply as ‘an inflammatory condition of the Hypothalamus'. While it's still unclear whether the Hypothalamus is actually inflamed, Dr Mickel believes that the gland goes into a state of overdrive producing the wide range of symptoms seen in these illnesses.

It is important to note that CFS/ME and Fibromyalgia are physical illnesses based on body-mind learning and although mood tends to be lowered eventually, they are not examples of depression.

The first step is to brief clients so that they understand how ‘Hypothalamitis' is created and how the symptoms of CFS/ME and FMA are produced by the condition. This is the main focus of the first session. This part of the Mickel Therapy process is made easier if clients have first read Dr Mickel's book.

Client and therapist start by translating the unconscious messages that trigger the Hypothalamus to produce the symptoms.   The process of Mickel Therapy is designed to give the client the resources necessary to understand 'body intelligence' and therefore stop the return of symptoms in the future.

What are E-motions?

Mickel Therapy looks at what we call e-motions as being an important element in understanding how we work with these illnesses. Here are some key points:

  • E-motions are the 'body intelligence's' energetic assessment of the world around us.
  • They are protective though sometimes painful.
  • They are truthful and a reflection of who we are.
  • They are fact.
  • They seek to resolve situations that we face.
  • They can be felt within our physical bodies and therefore changing cellular function.

    Energy in a situation -> Body intelligence ->Energy-in-motion (E-motion)

As our understanding of e-motions has grown, Mickel Therapy has evolved. Read more about advancements in the process.

Above is an extract from Dr Mickel's short book. It's suggested that all clients read this prior to treatment.

Is Mickel Therapy a form of psychotherapy?

No. Mickel Therapy is a body-mind healing process. This means that we work with physical symptoms in order to clear the messages that are linked to them. Unlike psychotherapy, we do not investigate thoughts in order to treat the mind. This makes sense since CFS/ME and Fibromyalgia are physical illnesses and not psychological. In contrast to most forms of physical therapy we do not try to remove symptoms through massage, diet or drugs that merely 'shoot' the messenger. The key to the work is to teach clients how to work with their innate ‘Body Intelligence' to the degree that it is then allowed to stop sending symptoms.
